          The Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, Inc. held its 49th Annual Convention last March 18, 2016, 7:00am to 5:00pm at the Fiesta Pavilion Manila Hotel. The theme was “Healthcare Leadership Diversity: Integrating Patient Safety Principles in Nursing Practice.”

          The 49th Annual Convention was headed by none other than Dr. Louise Marie D. Flores. Dr. Flores is one of the existing board members of the ANSAP and Rizal Medical Center’s very own Chief Nursing Officer. The said event was joined by the ANSAP officials headed by the ANSAP President Dr. Maria Linda G. Buhat and other participating bodies.

          One of the goals of the Department of Health (DOH) through the Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) is to prevent or minimize the loss of lives and illnesses during emergencies and disasters. This is done in collaboration with government, private and civil society groups.

          The Rizal Medical Center recently concluded the yearly commencement exercises of resident trainees last February 15, 2016 at the RMC Auditorium. In attendance were the 22 graduating resident-physicians from the different clinical departments, namely, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Ophthalmology, Radiology and Pathology-Laboratory Medicine, together with the respective Chairmen, Training officers and other consultant staff. Among the guests were the family and friends of the doctors.

          During the last week of February 2016, the Department of Surgery had a medical mission with Team Medipinas. Already on its second year, the medical mission involved having delegates from Valencia, Spain perform and observe in various breast surgeries of the department. The team was headed by Dr. Belen Merck, a specialist in breast surgery. In RMC, the team responsible was headed by Dr. Paul Michael Galicia and Dr. Daryll Ian Letargo. The mission was due in part to the Rotary Club 3810 (Manila Chapter) and its liason officer, Dr. Mariano Lopez.
