The Department of Nuclear Medicine provides molecular imaging services as well as Radioimmunoassays and Radionuclide treatments. Nuclear medicine uses small amounts of radioactive materials to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases. Nuclear imaging differs from x-rays in that the organ function is evaluated rather than the structural appearance.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive and affordable nuclear medicine services to all patients that are referred to our department.
Our vision is to become the preferred referral center for nuclear medicine procedures in the Eastern NCR and neighboring areas.
Rizal Medical Center is one of the first institutions in the Philippines to offer nuclear medicine services. The radioisotope laboratory was established in 1966 through the initiative of Dr. Flaviano Felizardo in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supported by the Philippine government.
